Hermies....

Hey all so got some bad news... 2 of my ladies went hermie on me dont know why... they had young buds with little white hairs then all of a sudden they started poppin round balls too.... I was like wtf :mad:

Anyway I think some of them released their pollen cuz there was this white dust type shit on their leaves, so I moved them away from my other ladies that just had bud and no balls :rolleyes:

It's only 3 weeks into flowering I didnt think they would release their pollen so quick and why would they suddenly go hermie?? :mad: :(

Oh well I think I am gonna take their bud and leaf and make goo or something.... still got 3 fems hope they didnt get pollenated... any way of making sure?

bummer on the hermies mate....i had probs with hermies when i first started out....i found out that small light leaks and taking pics and shit duering lights out was my prob....i aint had any since,touch wood;)

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but as it was explained to me, if'n I'ma memberin right :hmmmm:... but the seeds that are on the hermie itself are no good.... but the seeds that er on the other girls er OK *rightrightright ?
That is if the other girls are not hermies as well... but jus woulda happen ta get knocked up buy the one that was a hermie.

All is not lost, still smokes :rasta:.... jus now ya have seeds in the buds... :shrug:
but I'd take out those seeds B4 smokin.... :yack:

and the seeds from the other girls you can jus grow... and smoke the budz later! :snickers:

At 3 weeks into flower your seed problem shouldnt be TOO bad. But at this point i dont think you'll harvest seed-free. Happened to me this last grow, Dooby.

For the record, i'm growing those seeds that my hermi pollinated now.

Eh.. 'least you learned to check more carefully now, like i did.

Bummer, but all is not lost. You could always just let all of them stay together and do their thing, save the seeds for another grow and smoke the buds or make bountiful goo and baked goods!! :eat: :D

I moved the hermies away from the fems, but they are stilling getting some light so the bud on them grows a bit more... I think I'm gonna use these 2 hermies and make hash or oil or something since the bud will probly be loaded with beans..... :shrug:

Not too worried about the other 3 fems since their buds are still small, I figure there isn't much room right now for many bean pods

Oh yea read somewhere you can make a delicious snack out of the beans by sprinkling salt all over the fresh beans and letting them dry out.. mix w/ almonds or pistachios or eat by itself for a mild sensation ;) Might try this out

If you're gonna end up smoking the other females, i'd kill the hermies.

i dont think they're going to give you much in the way of bud weight.

and you'll lose a lot of budweight from the females if you let them get totally sexed up.

OK... heres the deal on the hermie seeds/ pollen that you have.... JUNK.
If you plant those seeds you have a greater chance of growing more hermies.

Maybe we can get one of the more experinanced breeders explain this process... because hermies can be used for their pollen... but ya gotta do a certain way to get the best results in the seeds produced.

i wasn't planning on using the seeds and crap just the buds and the leaves..
Well I figure the buds are gonna be packed with beans so im not getting a good yield at all, but I figure I can use the bud I get and all the leaves and make hash or goo or something...

1st why did the plant go hermie? just nature or bad conditions?

2nd what is hermie pollen good for ? well the way i understand it and the way it has worked for me is....

freak hermie pollen and or seeds are no good...will just produce more herms

now if ya take a girl and force it to herm via light cycle or other means then use that pollen on another female plant it will produce pretty much all fem seeds with a couple odd balls once in a while

perhapes Q will stop in with some input as well

this is also the way i understand it to bro;)

also,once a plant starts to produce seeds then alot of effort will go into producing seeds rather than bud if ya get me which is why id keep them hermies well away from ya 100% fems

Okay so can I put the 2 hermies in a dark room getting no light just so they can get the nutes out of system? I gave them a full dose of 10-50-10 a day before I seen the pollen sacks so I figure there's plenty of nute left in them...

I'm gonna try to make hash out of the hermies using the ice-water method but I dont want it full of nutes.. would it still work with flushing them even if they are getting no light?
