So.... been a couple questions about the ScrOG method....

Awrighty then, here we go. This is the way I do it and have been very successful with it. This is just one of many different methods of ScrOG. But the principals are still the same... to allow as much light to reach as much of the plant as possible!

On 4 July I transplanted into flower 17 clones that were from 14" to 16" tall.
These first two shots were taken on 10 July... I'll try and stick to this section of plants for the rest of this ScrOG FAQ.

sexy setup

one Q freddy

In your opinion do you think using a coated wire instead of the chickenwire, and the effects on the plant?

i mean im not sure the type of metal you have there, but in one of my previous grows my wire rusted up really bad and practically destroyed my stems and leaves.

I tried using some glossy white coated wire like for dishwashers, and it seemed ot be more sterile....

but honestly I'm not sure the type of metal you are using, but mine was somethin terrible for water and humidity.

and also how old are those clones.. lookin awesome man!

Peace!

Hey TAN... No, I haven't had one bit of trouble with this type of chicken wire.
This has been part of my set-up for sumtime now... close ta 2.5 years.
I haven't had any problems with plants wanting to grow into the wire either... maybe it's because I keep them moving?

There's plastic type fencing available.... or even cloth/ synthetic netting.
Or you can use string to make your own grid.
Try to use something with 2" holes.... anything smaller makes it's difficult to pull the buds thru.... and ya don't wanna go with too large of holes or you loose the effectivness of filling up "Screen".

So Fred, you don't trim the lower leaves off?

Fred Lemonjello
07-22-2006, 09:50 AM
*giggles*..... THX Stan!

So Fred, you don't trim the lower leaves off?
Sumtimes I'll trim the lower growth, bud sites and/ or leafes... and sumtimes I won't.... jus depens on my mood I guess.

As far as producing more harvested weight and/ or bigger budz if you do trim off lower stuff... sure the top buds are a lil bigger, but I really haven't seen that much difference in harvested weight. Of course that's using fluoro shoplights, a person may see sum differences in size/ weight using HID lighting.

Here's a couple shitty pics....
sorry bout this... but the instisted on getting a new thinner camera 5.0mp.... fuckin peice a shit is what this Kodak turned out to be.... the last kodak 4.0 worked great.
It jus seems like this camera won't focus fully... even with a stand and different distances.... and even the typical shots one would take come out not fully focused!

Anyway... these pics were taken Friday evening 28 July 2006.
The plants are now at the point where the is little need to move them any more.. a few stemms may need ta be tucked down.. but the majority of the budz will jus be left as is.... will raise the light a couple times now til finish.

Lookin good there Fred, how long do you expect for those to go before you start flowering?

Fred Lemonjello
08-01-2006, 06:27 PM
These were turned to flower on 4 July, so they still have about 5 weeks.
The budz won't get extremly large as the only source of light are shop light style floro's... that's why I grow so many plants at one time.
From this point onwards I prolly won't move the budz around, a few stems will still stretch so I'll tuck those under... but from here on in the light will be raised bout 3 times, 3/4" to an 1" each time until harvest time.

As for distance the light is away from the tops?..... bout an 1" to 1.5".

hey fred have you ever used containers or do you find that planting them and feeding them together like that makes a bigger yield? i read an article in high times a long time ago about a guy who used that method and he said his yield was bigger

Fred Lemonjello
08-07-2006, 05:51 AM
Well Stan, when I started a few years back, yes I used containers, then decided to try out the large plots. After using this method for a couple years now.... I think I'ma gunna try 2-3 gallon pots for future grows.
It's hard to tend to each of the plants needs with large plots.... even though they're clones.

... as far as yield....
Well let's jus say it sure does make for a tighter grow area, utilizing the maximum amount of space for soil and lights. But I think the same thing can be achieved using individual medium sized pots as well.... and probably better becuz you can tend to each plants wants/ needs, there by increasing your yield.

However, I am very pleased with the ScrOG method, especially when using groups of shoplights.... or a person can even use multipul CFL's.
I can't wait to try out the ScrOG with a 1K HPS.....will be very intersting to see the differences.

Hey Fred, I would think you could get pretty close to the same area by using square pots so you're right it would seem easier to handle each plants needs if they aren't sharing soil. :2cents:
