mrs wakka and I went to a cultivation class this weekend. the lecturer was a professional grower. was from up in the san francisco area. he was hired by a few compassion clubs in the oakland area as a grower and lecturer.

it was about soilless grow. mrs wakka was taking notes, I listened. now most of everything he talked about was basic, but always good to get more info. flat out recipe for soil. ratios and such.

now, one thing he said caught me off guard. whether in soil or hydro, he said you need to let some plain, p hed water. cool enough, common knowledge as far as I know. then, he said to put one teaspoon or table spoon for five gallons of water. I'll explain why I don't know whether it was a teaspoon or tablespoon in a minute.

he said the carbohydrates in concord grape juice did wonders for plants. this I have never heard. I had him verify that was the concord grape juice, the purple kind, and that it worked in both soil or hydro.

so has anyone ever heard of this? this guy is a full blown professional grower. never heard about concord grape juice before.

now, for the reason I can't remember what the measurement was. during the lecture, they had this volcano going the whole time. and that bag just kept getting passed around for the entire lecture. an hour and a half. I started passing after about eleven or so hits. I was so baked. the lecturer told us afterwards he took about six or seven hits of their best oil just before he started the class.

then I smoked a bud of the romulan I just grew in a volcano. damn, I felt so, so fine. I fucking floated out of the place. slept all the way home. good thing too, it's hot out here!

Yeah wakka amigo, it's a source of carbohydrates just like any sugar basically, prolly kinda acidic in nature, and I'm sure delivers some trace elements too, I would think.

The sugars encase certain nutes and chealate them making the absorbable well outside their normal pH absorbability ranges :)

Hell you could use maple syrup if ya wanted to heh heh LoL ...but the thing about the molasses, and especailly the blackstrap molasses, is the exotic cool nutrient elements it adds, in the ratios it adds them, like sulfer for example! A VERY DANGEROUS element to add, but in the small amounts and encased by the carbs of the molasses, it is delivered about as plant friendly as I know of my friend!

Sulfer is also one of the most important elements to have during the final half of flowering too, for things like flavors and potency. It works closely with Mg and Ca at the end to realy make or break the top shelf buds, in my opinion.

Speaking of maple syrup...

These 3 fellas I knew way way back in the 70's in northern California, they were known as "The Druids" and they were insanely talented and experienced breeders and 100% organics growers.

The Druids always had like 15 different piles of different stuff composting, and I remember one of their very favorite piles, that they said was one of the "magic" piles, was maple leaves, maple twiggs, steer manure, greensand and bonemeal. About once a month or so, I would see them pour different juices on the compost piles, only the few "Magic Piles" though. I dunno what I am getting at, just some random anecdote-like thing that ocurred to me, but they knew their shit yesssiry; so at least it is something to ponder heh heh.

yeah, I read about the molasses and maple sugar. the thing about the grape juice, he said there was no bad things that could happen from it. as long as it wasn't over done of course.

I think I'll give that a go next time.

Yep yep, just remember that sugar is largely fructose, which if in too high of ratios at the end will make your smoke about as harsh as harsh can be! So just go mellow-ish with it first time out mi amigo, mebbe go a bit heavier on one plant to see what the ceiling is. All in my opinion broski :)

- REv :smoke1:Used backstrap for the first time last run , really can't say how much it benifited but with co2 and the sugar my yields skyrocketed. Only was the two different things in that run.:) So I will be using it again with a lil Concords to boot, thanks wakka...ndn
