Hi everyone. Now that I know I have some females going into flower I am trying to prepare for the harvesting bit. I understand that dark is very important during the drying period, does it have to be total darkness? It is out of the question for me to dry the plants in the house, but on the property is a small cement block building about 15 feet by 10 feet. On one wall it has one tiny window plus a normal size door. It's used to house the electrics for the gate and outside lights. It's dry, or at least the walls and floor are dry. The roof is a tad dodgey with a few sprigs of ivy growing through around the sides; but I have never seen water on the floor after a rain so I am assuming if it rains during the days I am drying the buds will not get rained on. I am thinking that I could hang some dark material inside across the front wall where the window and door are. It would be dark but not totally and I could keep the door open for circulating air. I should also say that the building itself is about half way underground and gets no direct sunlight, its more like in a wooded area. I know I need a fan blowing, but not directly on the buds themselves. If anyone has any experience drying in this type of area, does it sound like it would work ok? When the buds are drying do they add a lot of moisture into the air? Do I need to take further steps like sit plates of silica gel around to absorb the moisture? Many many thanks to all who take the time to share their hints, tips and experience!

Just curious if you would leave dried buds in this place? For the sake of argument.

And, just so you know, buds can be dried in a box or in cardboard or anything.

Doesn't only have to be hung upside down, in complete darkness, with a fan.

But, as far as your building, it sounds damp to me. Damp wouldnt be very good to dry buds.

i use a huge rubbermaid bin with slits cut on the side and a pc fan blowing in air from the top, leave it in a DRY place for sure otherwise mold is gonna ruin your hard work

you can hang your bud t dry anywhere as long as its dry and good airflow

a little heat never hurt either- just not over 100
