Okay so I have noticed lately I have a infestation of gnats (sp?) or fruit flies as some people call them.

The plants are indoors so why am I having this problem? And what can I do to kill the little bastards?

Thanks peeps

Doktor Doom High-Pressure Fumigator works like a charm.... I imagine any Pyrethrum spray would do the trick.

Doktor Doom Total Release Fumigators
No residuals. Pyrethrum breaks down within hours for quick re-entry time
Hi Pressure Fumigator

One spraying kills exposed stages of mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, cockroaches, ants, spiders, and flies

The only Pyrethrum-based fumigator in Canada (COMMERCIAL) 0.40 Pyrethrins 2.0% PBO

Here's some more info regarding fungus gnats and how to control / eradicate them...

Last time I had fungus gnats I found that they were gaining entry through the holes underneath the pots. So, I started using some kitchen tisue to line the bottom of the pot before the soil is added, and this seemed to stop them in their tracks.

Haven't seen any since :D

peace,

If your soil growing top your pot off with a 3/4" layer of builders sand, works a treat for me.

A top dressing of Diatomaceous Earth would also help control your infestation, also heard rave reviews from several sources about Vapona and or Hot Shot No-Pest strips... apparently they're very effective.

Oh yeah, sticky traps are a must too. As they say, prevention is better than the cure ;)

Well I have a sticky trap right now and its getting some of them but there are many more

I guess I'll have to buy something to help control it, wasn't trying to use any of those chemicals around my plants though :(
