A place to voice opinions
No bashing or arguing, just words of wisdom and different points of view to chew on.
I am concerned about the governments willingness to end a war on terror.

I am troubled by the lack of willingness by our citizenry in north america to task the governments with doing what we really want. I think the government uses the special interest groups to keep us at odds so they can slip stuff under the radar.

Hey Cheeseburger, glad you are interested in current events. I think we will have much to discuss. CB went ahead and started a new forum for us to focus in, so I think I will move this thread into the forum it inspired.
I am troubled by the lack of willingness by our citizenry in north america to task the governments with doing what we really want.
I too am concerned with the lackluster attitude some people take towards actually holding government responsible. Like you say the problem is most people want government to work for them, in their favor. So they are willing to overlook the other things that government is doing just so long as they get their perks.
The war on terror is not going to end, they have said so already. Government and war go hand in hand you can't have one with out the other. Get rid of one and you get rid of the other.
I'll have to check out your link. Thanks.
toke it easy :smokin:

With government you have large wars, without government, you have thousands of small wars. dominance is a trait of the animal kingdom and we are animals. There is always a form of government. whether an individual governs himself or a group is governed by a few, the issues are the same. Survival is the issue. unfortunately, survival is a life and death issue and so is war.
Peace is only and inevitabley interupted by outside sources. These outside sources my be doing what is normal in their society, but in your society it is not acceptable. There-in squats the toad. the war has begun.

Sheriff's deputies find 17,000 marijuana plants

Courtesy The Placer County Sheriff's Department raided a pot garden with more than 17,000 plants in the American River canyon Wednesday.Placer County sheriff's deputies found and removed more than 17,000 marijuana plants and chased a suspect carrying a rifle during an early morning raid on a grow site Wednesday.
Acting on an anonymous tip, investigators and the Special Enforcement Team discovered the illegal garden in the Gas Canyon area between Auburn and Foresthill on U.S. Forest Service public land, according to a sheriff's department report.
A suspect was able to evade pursuers near the American River, but investigators recovered one rifle in the area.
The plants ranged from 6 inches to 2 feet tall. It is believed the garden was tended by at least two workers, officials said.
The public is urged to use caution when venturing off marked trails while hiking in the wilderness. As this case demonstrates, marijuana growers are often armed and pose a real threat to unwitting visitors to the area, officials said.

Auburn man dies in vehicle crash on Placer Hills Road
26-year-old killed in high-speed collision in Meadow Vista
By: Penne Usher, Journal Staff Writer
Tuesday, June 6, 2006 10:54 AM PDT
A 26-year-old Auburn man was killed Sunday night in a solo-vehicle crash in Meadow Vista.
Jordan Harmon, 26, was taken by air ambulance around 9:15 p.m. to Sutter Roseville Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries, officials said.
Harmon was driving a 1987 Chevrolet S10 pickup northbound on Placer Hills Road, just south of Crothers Road, when for unknown reasons he ran off the roadway.
Officials said speed was "definitely" a factor in the collision.
Harmon reportedly hit several trees and landed on the opposing side of the road. No other vehicles were involved and there were no passengers in the pickup.
Emergency crews from the Placer Hills Fire Protection District responded to the crash.
"The damage to the vehicle was significant," said Chief Ian Gow. "His injuries were critical, but the medics worked heroically on him with breathing tubes and for a collapsed lung."
The area where the crash occurred is a rural, two-lane, windy roadway with a posted speed limit of 40 mph. Officials said the cause of the collision remains under investigation and it's not clear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the fatal collision.
Officer Al Jones of the Newcastle office of the California Highway Patrol reported about a pound of marijuana was located in the victim's car.
The Journal's Penne Usher can be reached at penneu@goldcountrymedia. com. email this cat and let him know that poor reporting hurts everyone.

That was the newspaper article, next is the rebuttal.
Car crash victim was a father, husband and friend
Monday, June 12, 2006 11:22 PM PDT
This letter is in response to the article "Auburn man dies in vehicle crash on Placer Hills Road," June 6. You may have reported the facts of the accident, but you failed to dig deeper into the facts of the man lost.
Jordan Harmon, 26, was a husband, father of two, son, brother and great friend to everyone who knew him. Jordan always had a story to tell and could always make you laugh. There was nothing he cared more about than his family. He left behind his wife, Candace Harmon, 21, and his two sons, 3-year-old Jay Maxwell Harmon, and 7-month-old Sebastion Harmon.
It wasn't just a solo crash that affected one man, it was a terrible tragedy that affected the lives of everyone who knew him. The Journal's article seemed to put a focus on the fact that CHP had reportedly found about a pound of marijuana in the vehicle, but had failed to mention Harman did in fact have a medical marijuana license for injuries sustained at work while trying to support his young family.
I feel that the article, put a damper on the true feelings and emotions that should have been felt for the tragic loss of a brilliant man.
