Okay so I asked some of you in the chat room what you thought about miracle gro and most people didn't really like it but im gonna try and use the stuff anyway
I'm gonna try 1/4 strength for the first application or maybe even 1/8 to be on the safe side. ;)
Just wondering how long I should wait before applying the first application?
I've heard as early as 2 weeks and my friend told me wait a month or I will risk killing them with too much fert.
Any ideas would be appreciated :D
Blaze on :smoke:
I would start 1/4 strength after week 2. then slowly work up from there.

im not sure but doesnt miracle-gro contain a lot of chemicals that can produce salts and other build ups in soils that most organics based ferts dont produce?
just curious becasue thats what i heard, wondering if there is truth to that?
Miracle grow.
Want the truth.
Notorious for PH imbalances, Salt build-up, and requires at least one flush in a plants life. I would say two one before Flower and one before harvest. I have seen grows fine with it, but how harsh was the smoke? I don't use it. but see lots of problems with it.
I'd say most of the time PH is off and locks out nutes or it fried the plant. So be careful with it.
A good fert will be balanced for each stage of growth. IMHO

Dawg - I am not sure about the smoke being harsh, but one my friends who is a little more experienced at this than me, said that if I do decide to use the miracle gro that to use just a "tiny pinch." He said he's fried countless amounts of plants just by putting a bit too much.
Seems as if this shit does more harm than good so I might just go out and get some other ferts.
Any reccomendations besides MG? :D

I just grew a killer crop and I have a little secret...
after managing a greenhouse for a few months I learn some killer tricks:D
best way to fertilize is like 200-300 ppm start to finish
we use a 20-7-70 for everything and everything is great.
sooo I tried this at home and i've never had better results.
no pics:
try it :D

I hear that the fox-farms trio pack is great for ferts. easy to use and does great for growing. Get you through all stages of growth. I use hydro ferts on mine, so I don't have experience with it.

There is a product called SuperThrive that is supposed to help the plant take in the nutes. I started to add it as a supplement with the fertilizer. Only takes a couple of drops per gallon and this stuff is supposed to make your grow room a regular jungle.. Like I said though, I just started to use it and everything I have heard so far is word of mouth... Has anyone else heard of this product or maybe even have tried it..

You want to remember, this is a commercial derivative and isn't the dogs bollocks as the adds tend to lean towards. Farmers have used it for spraying crops (hence the concentration) for crops that have had little rain and nutrients and so are watering anyway and need to replenish, or for crops that seem diseased but diagnosis is difficult. It's like having a sick animal but not wanting to pay a vet. Orrrrrrrrrr, think of it as a drip in hospital and not the jungle juice you believe. After all, if it were jungle juice why would we not all be using it and the information not be on your plate?
As a soil grower I bet you know more about hydroponics than Super thrive, which should point out this isn't a feed, its a medicine........ kinda......

I have used superthrive and I have also NOT used superthrive. It's not the super jungle juice they would have you believe, but that being said I wouldn't go without it now because I find it really does help stimulate root growth and adds a small shot of vigor. It will not however, overcome preexisting environmental, fert and/or pest problems and I find it tends to make plants stretch a bit when flowering. If you have a particularly stretchy variety running, you may want to suspend use of superthrive from when they are triggered to budset and then resume using after budset until flush. My 2 cents.

Dooby if you want a cool (high quality) dry synthetic fert that is also inexpensive I would recommend Peter's brand, All Purpose (20-20-20) and they also have a bloom version as well. Treat 1/2 recommended as if it were FULL strength and I would start out with about 1/4teaspoon per gallon of the All Purpose after about 2 weeks and I would use it at this strength every other watering for awhile to get a grip on what the plant needs/wants.
Superthrive....
Very spooky shit (don't get me wrong I use it once during my plants first 30 days of life always) right there, but I agree with Lungus absolutely. It is important to remember a couple things when using this product in my experience:
NEVER EVER NEVER use it at higher ratios than 1 drop per gallon of water.
DOn't use it alone, it is meant to be added in with nutrient solutions, that's it's whole strength.
NEVER EVER NEVER use it within 2 weeks of flowering-time or anytime during flowering.
*IF* you are gonna use Peter's and SUperthrive together reduce your nutrients to 1/8th teaspoon to start ;)
Hope that heps ya mangs and Merry Christmas! 2thumbs

Thanks for all the help guys, I think I will pass on this stuff this time around
I will try that Peters all purpose and see how it goes. Last time I used some Schultz 10-15-10 during veg and was only minimally impressed with it
We'll see how it goes this yr. :D

I use peters all purpose in veg, as well as alaskan 5-1-1. First feeding is always the 5-1-1, each there after is peters, for veg.
I found Better Gro Orchid Bloom to be a very good flower fert.
Also, if ya wanna kick things up once in a while I suggest Cytokinin. You can find it at lowes or home depot and its sold as a tomato blossom product. Theres actually 2 of those you can get, Tomato stop rot has CaCl, a nice source of calcium for your lovelies and the other tomato blossom product contains cytokinin. 3-4ml per gallon is all I use, once during veg and once during the start of flowering. Give a nice boost of branches, but will increase the stretch.
