So who's used a paraffin heater in the grow room?

I need to know whether it effects the bud taste?

And what about LPG heaters?

hey burnsy-
i've used the propane sunflower heaters in my grow room decent results.
i've used torpedo heaters extensively at work, and must advise against using them in your grow room. the fumes are pretty nasty, and i can't imagine plants liking it.
one point worth addressing is the amount of light that's thrown off by most heaters. while it's not that much, i'd think it might screw with the darkness period. i've heard folks suggest the oil filled electric radiators, as they emit no light, but they would drag on the electrical bill.......
decisions, decisions.....

Thanks for the input CB and Arnold. Sorry midwest but that was another post straight over my head. The Atlantic took something out of it for me :hippy:

It's in the refining process somewhere Cheap  , so yes. Smelly and pink.
Its not the space heater missile shape I'm looking at, but convection ones like these.

But it appears that they produce soot?. So on to LPG and something along the lines of this...

The idea is a convector heater. Or in laymans terms, a heater with naturally rising heat and not 'propelled'. The idea is to have one mounted on a wall and have the clip fan 2ft away to one side which will push the heat and C02 around the grow? Good ones have a thermostat and I wouldn't even consider one without a thermocouple! That way, if the pilot light was to go out, it would shut down.
I don't mean to sound condacending when describing these. :flipa:

I can't see the problem with an open flame Cheap? OK it has a fire risk, but no more than an insect landing on the HPS lamp?

I suppose keeping fire risk to a minimum is prioruty, especially having been in a fire myself, but as a new factory unit I should think all will be ok if I service it before each winter.
I just need to check it can be wall hung and I'll get one.
I've also posted a pic of the shed roof in the shed thread. Ice on the roof with 1200W underneath it. Looks like my stealth plan works!
