just what is this meter? what does it do? and what does it read?

i think most people seem to think a ppm pen reads ppm

but they dont really

even tho the conversion isnt all that great in a ppm meter from ec to ppm it works;)

CLICK (http://www.octiva.net/projects/ppm/)

think most pens use the .07 conversion and are within +or- 50 ppm

My meter is a TDS meter and it is supposed to be off by +/-1 under a thousand and +/-10 over a thousand. Are you saying it's better to go with EC or that they are the same thing basically?
That was a good link about EC and such CB, very informative.

TDS- Total Dissolved Solids...
a TDS meter measures the total ammount of dissolved solids in a liquid
( like ferts) in Parts per Million (PPM).
I use a simple TDS-3 Hanna meter, easily found on ebay for $25 +-.

A TDS meter reads EC then converts to TDS. Different manufacturers use different conversion factors. See Cranky's chart.

how i grow via a ppm meter

rooted plants ready for food

day 1 ppm 200
day 2 ppm 150, feed back the ppm they ate and the ppm they wanted so ppm now 250
day 3 ppm 200, feed back/+ what wanted so ppm 300 now

i do this this until mid flower then it starts to even off and i just ride the wave :D

push the plant to the max like or hydro is just a waste of time IMO why we use a means to monitor ther uptake;)
