More from round Dam Square. On the West side of the square there was a club house/ resturant and iceskating rink set up along side the Christmas Market with a few rides for the kids and a few cabin shelters set-up for different types of vendors.
It jus so happened that I came to the ice rink in time to see the Dutch version of Sinterklaas & Zwarte Pieten (Black Pete).
Never did really find out why the kids were pushing those chairs round the rink.... tried askin old Dutch gentalman at the local bar... but all I got out of it was the kids hope Sinterklaas will set in thier chair?.. or maybe it was in hopes that they would be able to be the one to push Sinterklaas round the rink?
And I think the hockey player in the jersey was from the Utrecht hockey team....
was some sort of annoucement and he kinda did a skate round with hands waving... and his jersey does say Utrecht!
*shrugs*.... had a great time at this show anyway as it was a totally new experiance seeing the Dutch celebrate the coming of Sinterklaas.
